Located just 40 miles from Salt Lake City lies the city of Provo, Utah. This city is home to just over 100,000 residents and you will find a wealth of opportunities for a fantastic vacation. The city gets its name from a French fur trapper and has grown dramatically since he first visited here in 1776. However, it was Mormon settlers that established the town in 1849.

With the extensive list of restaurants, eateries, take outs and coffee houses in this city, you won't be lacking in finding a place to have an enjoyable meal or a snack.
Visit the Earth Science Museum to see the fossil exhibits and the research being done on dinosaur remains found in this area. The McCurdy Historical Doll House has over 4000 dolls on display and the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum has preserved and mounted displays of insects, animals, fish and plants in an interactive hands on format that the children will enjoy. The Museum of Peoples and Cultures offers guided tours through permanent and changing exhibits that detail the anthropology of the world's cultures.
Take the National Scenic Byway through the Uinta National Forest, but you can enjoy fantastic fishing in this forest as well. There are three golf courses where the golfers among you can tee off and for swimming, you can cool off at the Seven Peaks Water park. With exciting water slides and 26 different heated attractions, it is one place where you will probably want to spend a day or two.
This may be your first visit to Provo, but it won't be your last. You will want to return and bring your friends with you.
