Named for the Biblical Promised Land, the first Mormon settlers of Moab, Utah, expressed their pleasure in what they found here by naming the town. Visit the Fishers Towers, a rock formation that springs out of the Professor valley to a height of 2000 feet. From the top, the breathtaking scenery will give you a glimpse of why the first settlers named this town. Butch Cassidy's King World Waterpark has something for all ages from five waterslides and historic rock carvings. See the dinosaur tracks at Potash Road Dinosaur Tracks and the sauropod fossils at Sauropd Fossil Tracksite.
Book Cliff Mountains features the longest continuous escarpment in the world with its multi-colored bands of rock formations. The Canyonlands not only provides spectacular scenery, but you can also visit the Dinosaur Museum. The petrified wood and the dinosaur fossils along the Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail is stunning as are the two dozen canyons of the San Rafael Swell.
The 18-hole golf course at Moab is open to the public and there are picnic areas at both the Dead Horse State Park and the Green River State Park. There are many opportunities for fishing or rafting expeditions, if you are more adventurous. Hiking and biking trails abound where you can enjoy the peaceful setting that Mother Nature displayed on Moab.
