Texarkana - Texas - United States. Guide & Hotel Reservations from Cheap Hotels
Visit two states at once, when you choose Texarkana, Texas. The state line of Texas and Arkansas divides this city and so is two separate cities in one. It is located along the narrow border of the two states. With the many bed and breakfast establishments and hotels, you won't have any difficulty finding accommodations. Southern hospitality will greet you and make you welcome wherever you choose to dine or visit.
Have your picture taken as you straddle the state line and visit the Post Office and Federal Building, the only one of its kind to serve two states at the same time. Take the Trail of Two Cities Tour that will take you to all the major points of interest in both places. Tour the period furnishings in the rooms of the Augustus Garrison Historical Home and explore the 40-foot rotunda of the Draughn-Moore House, which dates back to 1884. The Old Rialto Building is built in a triangular shape and Union Station is a railroad depot located in both states with entrances to both cities.
Visit the restored buildings at the Museum of Regional History featuring a Victorian Parlor, Grandma's Kitchen and the model of an 1800's farmstead. The Discovery Museum has hands on exhibits for all ages and art lovers will spend many hours browsing the collection or artwork at the Regional Arts Center. The walking paths of Spring Lake Park will provide you with outdoor enjoyment amidst spectacular scenery. Have a picnic, walk the paths or swim in the outdoor pool. Lake Wright Patman is another opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and is a must for the avid angler with the abundance of catfish in the lakes.
Shop at Central Mall, Sam's Club or one of the department stores. There are also smaller specialty stores and boutiques with an amazing selection of items to choose from. There is so much to see and do in Texarkana that you will have to return to make sure you cover it all.
