About 50 miles north of Philadelphia, you will find the town of Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Quakers originally settled in this town of about 9000 people in the early 18th century, but it quickly grew as the place with a tavern where the stage coach made a regular stop. It was the hiding place of the Liberty Bell during the American Revolution, before it was transported to the Lehigh Valley. Today you can see the replica of the bell in front of Liberty Hall.
Quakertown has an extensive network of parks where you can enjoy many recreational activities. Take a dip in the Quakertown Pool when you want to cool off on the hot summer days or even take lessons if you want. There are jogging, walking and bicycle paths where you can wind your way among shady trees and blooming flowers. On Sunday evenings in July and August, there are concerts held at Memorial Park, or indoors if the weather is not suitable.
