Marion, North Carolina, is a small town of a little over 6000 people. It is located just north of I-40 and is nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visit the Lucky Strike Recreational Gold and Gem Mine, where you can try your hand at panning for gold using the flume line or by actually getting into the river and doing it the old fashioned way. Take the Linville Trail to see the Linville Falls, which is a walk of about 1.6 km. There are four lookouts where you can see the panoramic views below you. With several golf courses to choose from in the area, golfers will certainly want to tee off at each one.
