The city of Dearborn, Michigan, was first settled in the late eighteenth century. Among its former residents is Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford Motor Company which, as expected, has its headquarters centered in the city. The influence of Henry Ford is noticed and felt all over the city with even a college, the Henry Ford Community College, named after him. The influence of the headquarters being in the city has accounted for the establishment of other corporations also and the large population, which has necessitated the founding of several post secondary institutes, such as the University of Michigan-Dearborn, the Davenport University and the aforementioned community college.

The city of Dearborn has developed into a major employment area. With all the businesses in the area the population increases from 100,000 to 300,000 during work hours. The city is currently undergoing major renovations to the downtown districts, which involve the establishment of new businesses and the restoration of old buildings through funding and investment from the city and the private sector.

Among the city's attractions are the Automotive Hall of Fame, the world-renowned Henry Ford Museum and Dearborn's Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, to name but a few. Dearborn also possesses a huge number of parks ranging from mini-parks, which are specialized parks serving small neighborhoods, to community parks, which cater to the greater part of the population and have loads of recreational opportunities to take part in. Aside from these parks the city also possesses a number of cabins that can be rented for camping purposes.
