Known as the birthplace of the state of Maine, Freeport is located only two hours north of Boston. The Desert of Maine is a national park that is also a natural wonder with its giant sand dunes. The park has many picnic sites, a barn museum and guided tours every 30 minutes. Take a cruise to see the whales or watch the sunset from the water through one of the many short cruises that are available.
