Cambridge is one of the oldest towns in the state of Maryland. When you come to this beautiful seaside town, you will be astonished at the wide array of museums that portray the proud history of the town. Visit the Brannock Maritime Museum where you will learn about the ship building industry of the area. You will also be able to find out about the oyster navy and the part Cambridge played in defending the country.

You can't miss the Skipjack Nathan, an original schooner tied up at the wharf. This schooner is now the setting for many educational classes about the sea, but it open for tours and you can take a two hour sail. Fishing is important here and if you love fishing you just have to have a cast at the Choptank River Fishing Piers State Park. The piers are the remains of an old bridge from which you can catch a variety of species of fish, such as perch, striped bass or sea trout. You don't have to give up when the sun goes down because the pier lights up for night fishing.

If you like nature, you will enjoy the Blackwater National Wildlife refuge where you will see many of the birds flying south for the winter. There are many walking trails where it is quite possible to spot a bald eagle. Sailwinds Park is a popular location for indoor and outdoor concerts, fairs and festivals, and each month of the year brings a different flavor to this large festival hall.

Shopping is a unique experience in Cambridge because you may find a little boutique around any corner. There are many places where you can purchase one of a kind articles. Race Street is the most popular shopping area with its specialty stores, country stores and antique shops.
