Revere - Massachusetts - United States. Guide & Hotel Reservations from Cheap Hotels
Only five miles from downtown Boston, lies the city of Revere with 43,000 residents. The city comprises only 10 square miles, but 4 of these are open water and wetlands, providing lots of opportunity for outdoor enjoyment. When you visit Revere, you can camp next to the seashore as the native Rummey March Indians did centuries ago, but you have many more modern conveniences.
The beach at Revere was the first public beach in the country. Today it is home to the Suffolk Downs horse racing track, the Wonderland dog racing track and a 14-screen cinema complex. If you are interested in the history of this city and its people, you can visit several museums. Visit the house of Horatio Alger, a native son of this city and the author of 119 books. At Ye Olde Rummey Marsh Burial Grounds you can see the gravestones of the early settlers. Slades Mill and the Tuttle House were built in the late 1600's and are a testament to the carpentry and stone masonry skills of the first settlers of this town.
Named for the legendary Paul Revere, this town is not the site of the museum telling all about this man. To visit this location, you will have to take the short trip into Boston. If you want to do any amount of serious shopping, Boston is also the place to go. Revere is mainly a residential district where you will find a choice of hotels and restaurants. There are parks where you can take a swim in the pool or relax in the shade. Walk around the small lakes on the nature trails and see the wildlife and the native plants.
Whatever you do in Revere, it will be a relaxing time for you leaving you completely refreshed.
