Often called the City of Presidents, the City of Quincy, Massachusetts, is only minutes away from Boston. It is the home of two former president of the United States, both named John Quincy Adams. This is one city where visitors can easily see the pride the residents take in preserving the impressive history of the area.
See the early gravestones dating back to the 1600's when you take a guided tour of the Hancock Cemetery. Browse the historical items on display at the Quincy Society, which houses two main museum galleries and a shop where you can purchase souvenirs. The Dorothy Quincy Homestead is a Colonial home built in 1706 and the many architectural changes through the years make it a very interesting place to visit.
The Josiah Quincy House was once the residence of a high profile leader in the American Revolution and features not only many antiques, but a breathtaking view of the bay. Visit the Granite Railway and learn about the importance of both granite and the railway in the history of this town. The birthplaces of the two Adams presidents are also open to the public as is the Adams Mansion.
Walk the coastline on the Quincy Heritage Trail and stop off at one of the many beaches, where you can swim in the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way you will see many landmarks of historical or cultural importance.
