Because of the treacherous shoals off the coast of Provincetown, Massachusetts, the area has been called "the graveyard of the Atlantic". There are three lighthouses that you can visit in this area as well. Race Point is the most accessible and is open to the public on Saturdays in the summer. To reach the other two, you will have to hike to see them and although you cannot go inside, the view is well worth the time you spend to reach them.
