The state of Indiana offers a wide range of experiences to meet the needs of all those visiting. With a choice of scenic, cultural or recreational vacations or any mix of the three depending on the length of the stay, there is plenty for everyone to get stuck into here.
Within the various regions of this state the visitor will find a variety of things to do whether you are heading for the Northern, the Western, the Eastern, South Central, the Central or the Southern region. Each region has its own unique features to help create the perfect trip.
For Northern Indiana you will need to decide whether you want to go for the activity side or just take it nice and easy. If you choose activity you can head for the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore with 25 miles worth of shoreline running along Lake Michigan which offers plenty in the way of outdoor pursuits. Or you can take it easy and visit the Studebaker National Museum, entertain yourself at the Blue Chip Casino and Blue Chip Hotel, or even take a trip on the Amish Country/ Elkhart County Audio Driving Tour.
On to western Indiana, there is plenty for everyone here with the Indiana Beach Amusement and Camp Resort and the Tropicanoe Cove Family Aquatic Center for the family, the McCormick's Creek State Park, Shades State Park, and more for sightseers and the more active visitors. Finally for the more historically minded there is the Swope Art Museum and the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette giving everyone a chance to enjoy the vacation
The Eastern region is a quieter affair for the more discerning traveler, offering more in the way of cultural and historic locations to visit. A few of the places that can be found here are Historic Centerville with its many antique shops and 19th century architecture, the Wilbur Wright Birthplace Interpretive Center, and the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo to name but a few. This is an exciting stop off if you have an interest in the history of the state or just fancy a more relaxed trip
South Central is the perfect place for adults looking for either a romantic break, or just a quick trip to the shops and restaurants in the region. There are again plenty of places to visit from Grouseland, the home of the first Governor in the territory and US President number nine, William Henry Harrison, to The Columbus Area Visitors Center and plenty more in between. This is another region designed for a quiet and peaceful trip.
Making things a little more exciting and upbeat is the Central Region with a combination of big city fun and with all the charms of visiting a small town with great areas like downtown Indianapolis. There's still plenty to see though with the Indiana War Memorials Parks and Monuments, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis and the Museum of Miniature Houses and Other Collections.
Finally there's the southern region where the adventurous visitor is going to be in his or her element. With the Squire Boone Caverns and the Wyandotte Caves U.S. National Landmark to explore and maybe even the Holiday World & Splashin' Safari there's plenty of excitement here. There is still something there for the more laid back like Ohio River Scenic Byway and the The Corydon Capitol State Historic Site.
This state offers everything for every type of visitor from the most adventurous to the most laid back making it a great vacation at any speed.
