Princeville, Illinois dates back to the early 1700's when it was settled by people fleeing from the Saux, Kickapoo and Fox tribes. Daniel Prince was one of the settlers accepted as a friend by the native peoples of this area. The village of Princeville still bears the name of this man as its founding father. It was one of the stopping places on the stage coach route from Peoria to Chillicothe and the history is still evident to visitors.
