The city of Alton in the state of Illinois was established in 1837 and currently has a population of approximately 30,500 residents. This city is a perfect place to raise a family with a multitude of opportunities for children to become involved with many activities. The Alton Park and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of sports to youth boys and girls such as junior golf, baseball, and tennis to name just a few. In addition the department offers a host of clinics and summer day camps. Alton is also considered one of the most haunted cities in America.
