Just 25 miles from Atlanta, you will find the city of Woodstock, Georgia, home to about 10,000 residents. When you visit Woodstock, you have to visit the Historical Train Depot. Here you can get a glimpse of what life was like when the trains were the main form of transportation for the area. For some quiet time, you can relax in the beautiful Woodstock City Park where you will find many benches where you can just sit and drink in the sights and sounds of Woodstock, not to mention the breathtaking scenery. There are concerts in this park on Sunday evenings throughout the summer. At Dupree Park, you can get your exercise by walking the nature trail, enjoy a game of tennis or have a picnic in one of the covered pavilions.
Stroll through the historic downtown area, where you will find many stores and restaurants. Specialty stores as well as antique tearooms will delight you with the various selections available. This part of the city preserves the ambiance of a long gone time. Visit the Visitor's Center, located in the historic Dean Building, which was built in 1906 and remains in the same family.
Tee off at the Eagle River Golf Course, which is a long tough course. The avid golfer will be anxious to test his/her skills on this course. If you enjoy biking, the 15- mile Little River Trail will provide you with plenty of opportunities to get out and about. Along with the scenery, there is a wide variety of wildlife for you to see in this densely forested area. You can also take a trek to the 30-foot wide waterfall that cascades into Blanket Lake.
