Old Fort Jackson was a prominent fort during the War of 1812 and contains many artifacts from that time period.
Museums abound as do parks where you can enjoy many forms of outdoor entertainment. See the more than 200 varieties of Oriental bamboo at the Historic Bamboo and Coastal Gardens, the 300-acre rice field at J.F. Gregory Park and walk the nature trails of the Oatland Island Educational Center.
There are tours of all kinds, such as a Ghost Walking Tour of Savannah, an excursion along the rivers of the Low Country and a carriage tour of the city. Fish in one of the many lakes or play golf on one or all of the four courses. Take a hiking trip along the Colonial Coast Birding Trail.
