The city of Greensboro, Georgia, located in Greene County, was interestingly the first city to be completely burned to the ground by Native Americans and rebuilt. The city is loaded with attractions and historic monuments for tourists and residents alike to visit. Some such attractions are the Old Gaol Jail, which is a two roomed, thick walled prison where criminals were kept, the L.L. Wyatt Museum, which contains numerous artifacts and documents, such as warrants and the like, as it was once the home of a number of sheriffs, and the Confederate Museum, which was one of the first Civil War museums in the state.
Recreational opportunities are abundant in the city of Greensboro as well. The city is home to a number of parks, most notably the A.H. Stephens State Historic Park, which contains, among many other amenities, a twelve-mile horseback riding trail and a three-mile walking trail. The city is also closely located near Georgia's second largest lake, Lake Oconee. This provides the area with a wealth of additional recreational opportunities like swimming, boating, fishing and camping.
