Just fifty miles east of Orlando, Cocoa is an attractive city nestled in the heart of the county. A feature of the city that distinguishes it from many other cities in the state of Florida is that most of its population, which is roughly 16,400, are in the age group 20-44. Its position in the center of the county has also enjoyed some benefits, mainly in terms of establishing diverse institutions and commercial, residential and industrial developments. The city is also rich in historical content with many mansions from the early 1900s that showcase the traditional and stylish architecture of the region. Another popular attraction for the historian is the Alma Clyde Field Library of Florida History, which is one of just a few libraries that still archives paper documents, located in Historic Cocoa Village.
