Founded by a Theodore Loop and his wife, Ella, the city of Del Mar is considered by many to be one of the most attractive and relaxing places on the California coast line. A proposed railroad from San Diego to San Bernardino was being built in the late nineteenth century and Theodore Loop was among those aiding the construction process. When he came across the beach area, he decided he must live there. Ella gave the place its name which she derived from a treasured poem, "The Fight on Paseo Del Mar."

The beautiful beach in Del Mar paves the way for numerous recreational activities such as surfing, swimming, boogie boarding and simple lounging and tanning in the hot sun.
