The city of Cullman, located in the state of Alabama, has a population of nearly 14,000 citizens, one of the reasons why it is the official county seat of Cullman County. Its central location in the middle of the county makes it a very accessible and convenient city. Decatur and Guntersville, two excellent Tennessee ports, are both a mere thirty miles from the city, and Birmingham and Huntsville are a short distance away also.
Cullman's proximity to so many popular vacation spots, such as the sandy beaches on the Gulf Shores in Alabama and the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, combined with the fantastic year round climate the area experiences, make it an outstanding place to both visit and live.
There are plenty of attractions in the city and surrounding areas also. Just outside the city limits is the Ave Maria Grotto, which is a three acre piece of land containing roughly 125 tiny reproductions of well-known buildings and the like from around the world. The Clarkson Covered Bridge, which is actually one of the largest covered bridges in the state, is on the National Register of Historic Places as it was once the site of a Civil War battle.
Another popular attraction is the Cullman County Museum, which showcases not only various artifacts but also has historic room houses like those of the early settlers.
