The Auburn Historic District is centered around the beautiful Samford Park and has many buildings that date back to the 1850s. The Chewacla State Park is a perfect place to enjoy a day outdoors in the sunshine and warm temperatures this state is known for. You can enjoy a picnic, a day of activities or stay in one of the many cabins available for rent. There are miles of nature trails, a lake for swimming or boating, a beautiful waterfall as well as tennis courts and a playground. Kiesel Park is open daily where you can enjoy walking and biking trails as well as a large picnic pavilion. This park is the site of the Auburn CityFest held in April of each year.
The Donald E. Davis Arboretum contains more than 150 species of trees that are native to Alabama. As you stroll along the trails, a guide map will help you distinguish each of the species. The Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Reserve is a 110-acre nature center with a large ampitheater and miles of scenic walking trails.
The arts enthusiast is sure to be delighted with the art galleries located in Auburn. Several galleries feature work by local artists and the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center holds regular classes in dance and design.
