Hounslow is the main town of the Borough of Hounslow in West London. The center of the town is the shopping center where there are many stores, cafés and restaurants. The Piccadilly line of the railroad serves this town as do several others, so you won't have any difficulty getting here via the underground if you prefer not to drive. It is also located quite close to Heathrow Airport.
If you have seen the movie "Bend it Like Beckham", then you have seen the Hounslow Harriers, the football team in this movie. Visit the Cavalry Barracks, which were built in 1793, when it was thought that the French would invade England. You won't have any difficulty finding accommodations here from large hotels, to small bed and breakfast establishments. The cuisine served at the restaurants and eateries is simply delicious and you will not go away hungry with the heaped portions.
Enjoy a day on the course at the Hounslow Heath Golf Club, where you will need to have lots of golf balls, especially for the first 9 holes of the course. Visit Osterly Park and House, which is a mansion that dates back to 1576. This is one of the oldest estate parks in London where you can stroll about and drink in the breathtaking views. See the place where Henry VIII imprisoned his wife, Catherine Howard, at Syon House. The grounds are exquisite and include a butterfly house and a miniature steam train for the children.
Visit St. Leonard's Church, to see the four story tower that dates back to the 13th century. The lynchgate at the entrance to this church is believed to be the oldest wall of its kind in the country. There are also some interesting sites in the graveyard, with such gravestones as that of Queen Victoria's Nanny. There is a War Memorial opposite the church. When you visit the ruins of Cranford Manor, you will also be at the beginning of a walking trail that will take you all the way to Hereford - a distance of 20 miles.
