Brentwood is located only two miles from the north-east junction of the M28 Motorway and is part of the London Commuter Belt. It is steeped in history as being the place where Claudius defeated the Ancient Britons in 44 A.D. It is also the place where the leaders of the Peasants' Revolt often met at the White Hart, a pub that is still standing and is more than 500 years old. You will have to stop in to have a drink and a chat when you visit here. It was also a popular rest stop for pilgrims on the way to Canterbury and it was here that the Thomas Beckett Chapel once stood in the 12th century.
Brentwood has been home to many businesses, such as the Thermos Company and the Elephant Training School. Today it is the headquarters of Ford in the UK and in Europe. You can see a typical Victorian Church when you visit Brentwood Cathedral with its white walls and stone floor. The Brentwood Museum is located in the sexton's cottage and offers an impressive look into what life was like here in the 19th century. The artifacts on display date back to about 1840 showing various objects that were used in social and domestic life. Adjacent to this museum is the Lorne Road Nature Reserve as well as an old graveyard where you will find many old headstones.

The Mountnessing Windmill dates back to 1807 and is located on the side of an old Roman road. Thordon County Park is perfect for all kinds of walks and has a section, which has been restored to a traditional farm setting. The park itself actually dates back to the 15th century and its ancient trees make a commanding sight.
