If you rent a car, forget about staying in a hotel in El Arenal. Parking is a bit of nightmare, involving driving round and round looking for a palce to park and often ending up a ten minute walk from the hotel. You're better off finding a hotel with a car park.
The whole area is a bit of a dump, but the beach IS fantastic and the views across the bay from the beach really are beautiful, particularly at night. The terrace of the HOTEL ENCANT is a superb place to have a drink and chill out in the shade of some lovely trees...
