Montpellier Travel Tips from Julia Anwar Mchenry and other guests
The Montpellier Card is only really worth the money if you speak French as they don't have any guided tours in English. It was hard to find any vegetarian options that wasn't at an Indian restaurant. Only had a couple of days there, but its a pretty city with friendly people...
As with most big cities there's a lovely square in the centre. Excellent shopping centre at opposite end to the tram station. Good restaurants just off the square - we found one just before the cinema, excellent value but insist on the house wine. We paid just 7 euros for a litre of good quality wine (both red and white) - whereas the cheapest bottle on the wine list was 14. Look out for chap bar/happy hours. We found a student bar offering 2 for 1 from 9 - 10 pm and an irish bar up one of the side streets off the main centre where an excellent pint of real Guinness was 6 euros - compared to the same price for "fizzy" lager in the square (you'll know it's the right one if there a dart board at the back). Hop on a bus for a magical mystery tour of the area. We got on the wrong bus and ended up spending a very enjoyable hour riding round the lovly villages for 1.30 euros! ..
