Located on the banks of the Gan River, Nanchang is known for its towering pavilion, the Tengwang Pavilion, which dates back to the 7th century. The public square in this city is the largest in the Republic of China and is a popular tourist attraction. Shanggang Palace, located in the Shanggang Old Town Scenic Area is filled with scenic landscapes. At the Celestial Water Rock Scenic Area, you can see red clastic rock formations as well as more than 100 natural and artificial sights. There are also stones called "cannots" such as the nun carrying monk cannot pass by and the jade comb that cannot comb hair. Another fantastic sight at this location is the Cliff Tombs some of which are more than 300 m. high.
