The average temperature is about 16 and during winter there is often snow. However, during the summer months, it can be unbearably hot with the temperatures soaring to close to 40.
Although Hefei has a population of almost 4 million people, it is a very picturesque setting located on gently rolling hills. Just to the south is one of the most famous freshwater lakes in the world - Chao Lake, where the mists rise high into the air. Here you can experience the feeling of peace and grace that is associated with visiting China.
In the city of Hefei, there are many tourist attractions for you to visit. Spend some time at Leisure Ford, which is a public park built on the site where the famous Battle of the Three Kingdoms was fought so many centuries ago. Here you will find a typical Chinese zoo and a wealth of rare exotic plants. There are three islands in the lake which hold a centaph of General Zhang Liao and a bridge between the islands said to be the place where San Quan leaped to his freedom.
The Anhui Provincial Museum is the largest and most comprehensive museum in the province with over 100,000 artifacts and fossils, many of which date back thousands of years. However, there is no English translation provided at the museum. Baohe Park is just one of many parks that encircle the city of Hefei. It holds a large lake, a temple, several small tombs and several arched bridges, which make the perfect photo opportunity.
